Thrive Channel Newsletter Header7

Welcome Thrive's New CRO, John Holland

Circle HeadshotsThrive welcomed me as the new Chief Revenue Officer for the company as of January 2, 2020. I look forward to bringing my experience as a sales veteran in the Cloud and managed services industry to the Thrive team. Some of you may know me from my nine years with TierPoint as the Senior Vice President of Sales, or in my other roles leading the sales teams with Sungard Availability, Internap and Broadwing. Much of my career has been spent curating revenue through the channel, and I know we will continue to forge great partnerships this year. I understand that working with channels is an incredibly complex science that constantly needs to be refined to ensure we support our partners as efficiently and effectively as possible. With that being said, there are a few simple principles Thrive operates by, be easy to work with; make you, the partner, look great when we engage with your customers; and always do the right thing for the partner. I anticipate a great year of working with you in the channel. ~ John Holland, Chief Revenue Officer

Hybrid-Cloud-Director

Hybrid Cloud Director

As organizations expand their Cloud footprint to utilize both public and private Clouds to meet application and business needs, managing workloads across disparate cloud platforms becomes challenging and inefficient. IT staffs need to maintain a working knowledge of the multiple services, technologies, and capabilities that are present in the various public Cloud platforms to effectively manage them and ensure optimal performance and cost control.

Thrive’s Hybrid Cloud Director provides our clients with the visibility and control of their hybrid ThriveCloud, Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services environments with a single pane of glass to view status, utilization, and cost metrics of their virtual servers and Cloud resources. It also provides control and management of these resources through a single management interface.

Hybrid Cloud Director enables the movement of workloads between public and private Clouds seamlessly, allowing for virtual server mobility to take advantage of cost or performance benefits across multiple Cloud options and can automatically scale resources to meet application demand. Organizations can implement a multi-Cloud strategy without taking on the added management burden that multiple Cloud platforms can bring by taking advantage of the capabilities of Thrive’s Hybrid Cloud Manager platform

Patching is More Important than Ever!

One of the areas that most organizations continually battle is keeping up to date with current operating systems. Whether that is end-user laptop and desktops, or servers, they all have applications running on them that are crucial to the business. As we roll into 2020, a couple of widely used Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008) come to the end of mainstream support with Microsoft. At the same time, the New Year was rung in with news of a critical vulnerability in all versions of Microsoft Windows. This highlights the need to maintain a rigid patching program combined with a lifecycle management program. Thrive can provide managed monthly patching services for both servers and end-user devices.

The best estimates suggest hundreds of millions of devices are still running Windows 7 alone. Since these operating systems are still widely used, there are many devices that are now very vulnerable to being attacked. Thrive is actively working with clients to upgrade these operating systems or determine best next steps to protect their environments. In certain cases, extended support may need to be purchased for Windows 7 to extend the ability to patch critical systems that cannot yet be upgraded. In other cases, a server running Windows 2008 may need to be moved to Microsoft Azure to take advantage of the three years of extended support that Microsoft has included for any Windows 2008 servers that migrate to Azure

Channel Update

Thrive has experienced substantial Channel growth since 2018 and is poised for an even stronger 2020. We have made significant investments in our Master Agent relationships and are continuing to build a strong presence in the Northeast, Southeast, and nationwide.

We have developed a Thrive Channel Process designed to promote education and position Thrive as a resource for partners to lean on for technical advice and recommendations when managing their accounts. Our three core principals are as follows:

Step 1:  Register opportunity and tag partner – this ensures that the partner is tagged to the account for all future opportunities and eliminates commission mix-ups.

Step 2:  All communication is conducted through the partner, including meeting coordination, calls, proposal submissions, etc. -  If we are given the green-light to communicate directly with the client, Partners are always copied on emails and invited to calls.

Step 3: Operate as a third-party consultant while the partner acts as the trusted advisor for the client. - We get brought in by a partner and simply provide our recommendation based on what the client tells us.
